Form 1023 (Application for Nonprofit status)

Beginning Jan. 31, 2020, applications for recognition of exemption on Form 1023 must be submitted electronically online at www.pay.gov. The IRS will provide a 90 day grace period during which it will continue to accept paper versions of Form 1023. (Rev. 12-2017)

The 2023 business milage rate is 65.5 cents per mile.

There are seven tax rates in 2023: 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35%, 37%

Capital gains tax rates remain the same (long term remaining 0%, 15%, 20%)

Gift Tax Exclusion up to $17,000

Many of the American Rescue Plan Act credits expired at the end of 2021. Some tax credits have returned to pre-pandemic levels. These credits include the Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Credit, and Child and Dependent Care Credit. Due to these changes, many taxpayers will most likely receive a significantly smaller refund compared with the previous tax year.

My name is Jean Hartley and I established this firm in order to provide ministers with expert tax consultation concerning ministry tax. I am a tax accountant specializing in ministry tax and accounting and an Enrolled Agent with the IRS with 35 years of experience in the accounting field and 33 years specializing in ministry tax.

I feel very blessed to be able to assist those who serve at home and in the mission fields with their tax obligations. We have clients in mosts of the states in the US and all over the world in over 25 different countries!

We prepare the books for churches and non profits in five different states.

I have worked with and consult with hundreds of non ministry individuals and many many small businesses with tax and bookkeeping needs.

I truly love what I do and am also so blessed to have a staff that assists with our over 3000 clients.

And, yes, in my spare time (!) I am an Indiana State Champion Powerlifter (hoping to get the Florida titles this summer!)

Dan is an AFSP credentialed tax preparer with the IRS. He is in his seventh year with us and is in the office year round to help with your tax and bookkeeping needs.

Robin is back and doing an amazing job working mainly with our drop off clients. She is now taking some sit down appointments. You can schedule with her.

Tom is with us this year as our portal manager. He is doing an amazing job as we try to perfect our processing of over 600 clients that utilize this process for completion of tax returns.

Shelly has been with us for over 7 years. She is our bookkeeper with extensive knowledge in quickbooks and payroll. If your church or nonprofit is in need of bookkeeping services. Call us. Shelly will get the job done.

Alyssa has been promoted as our second full time bookkeeper! She is doing an amazing job and has allowed us to accomodate more churches and nonprofits to onboard for bookkeeping.

Robin F is back and now has an all year position as our secretary. She will also be (during tax seasson) processing all our drop off returns (a new process this year whicha allows our professional tax preparers to focus on returrn preparation). And, our office just could not run right without Pam! She is back and we are thankful! She will always greet you with a smile and a laugh.
